Giving Roccy sight

I was fortunate enough to have met the 8 month old orphan white Rhino Roccy on Tuesday before they removed cataracts from both his eyes. He was left blind after being beaten on the head when the ruthless money hungry poachers shot and killed his mother for her horn. ( can this stop please!!!! ) . He was only a few months old at the time and fortunately survived the nightmare ordeal. Roccy has a friend now named Clova which is also a orphan due to poaching. The owners Rocco and Yvonne Gioia just have such a passion for Rhino and I could see the stress of the operation really was emotional for Yvonne.

The story appeared in Beeld Newspaper and the link is below but is unfortunately in Afrikaans.

I will be returning to http://www.elandelarhinosurvivortrust.co.za/ in a few weeks to see what the progress of Roccy has been.

It is time we all got involved in protecting one of Africa's Big 5. You can help in some way never doubt that.!!!
