Hoedspruit Getaway

I recently spent a week in Hoedspruit and visited some rehabilitation centres as well as the Kruger National Park. These are some of the images I took while taking a break away from the office.

Wildlife images and just getting away from the normal day to day photographs often helps just to regain that perspective after a long year that seems as if a person just keeps doing the same thing over and over with little  renewed job satisfaction.

Kalahari landscapes

These landscapes of mostly sunset evenings in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park were taken with the mindset of having big prints made for the TV room at home. Well a few years later I have the pictures and yet to print something for the wall at home.

Pierre Spies Portraits

These portraits of Pierre Spies were taken in the tunnel leading out onto the main field. I specifically wanted to shoot these pictures at the spot with the big Bulls sign in the background and the nice blue colour. I used two nikon SB900 flashes placed on lighstands with the Nikon SU-800 flash commander.

Cape Town Landscapes

I had a week holiday in and around Cape Town in September and while the weather wasn't all that great I managed to get a few nice landscapes. I specifically wanted to take my wife to the top of Table Mountain but the weather had other plans. We will just go back when Cape Town has better weather (if that ever happens) and try and get to the top of the Mountain.

The new Vodacom Bulls captain

Pierre Spies was announced as the captain of the Vodacom Bulls side for 2012.
The press conference pictures were really boring and I tried something a little different on the field. It was 12pm and I needed to use my flash at Full Power to get the detail on his face and maintain the detail of the blue sky.
